About ZED

ZED (Zero Defect – Zero Effect) is a Manufacturing Excellence Maturity Model developed and implemented by Quality Council of India (QCI).

ZED Model has been introduced by Govt of India for Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) with a view to improving Manufacturing Competitiveness among MSME Units in the country.

ZED Certification is intended to help organizations assess their current Manufacturing Maturity Levels and identify Gaps to further enhance their Manufacturing Competitiveness. ZED Rating comprises of 5 Levels – Bronze, Silver, Gold, Diamond and Platinum.

ZED Model

The ZED Model comprises of 50 well defined Parameters covering Key aspects of Manufacturing Operations: Production, Design, Quality, Human Resources, Safety, Environment, etc.

The model incorporates Best Practices from major manufacturing Standards/Practices such as ISO9001, ISO14001, ISO 18001, Lean etc.

NOTE: ZED Parameters are customised for different Industry segments - e.g. Leather, Automotive, Textile etc. as well as Pollution (PCB) category of the Unit. Hence applicants must ensure they select the right NIC Code and PCB Category at the time of Registration.
